Leather-Determination of water-soluble magnesium salts-EDTA titrimetric method
Leather - Determination of Water-Soluble Magnesium Salts - EDTA Titrimetric Method ISO 5399:1984
1.1 This test method covers the determination of ethylene diamine tetraacetate (EDTA) in soaps and synthetic detergents. Throughout this test method EDTA represents the hydrated disodium salt containing 2 moles of H2O. In the chemical literature this is frequently abbreviated to Na2H2Y4 x00B7; 2H2O. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Material Safety Data Sheets are available for reagents and materials. Review them for hazards prior to usage.

This standard establishes the criteria for the purity of photographc-grade ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and its salts, and describes the tests to be used to determine the purity.
Photography (Chemicals) – Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid (EDTA) [(Ethylenedinitrolo)tetraacetic Acid], and Its Salts
Principle: Aqueous extraction of a test portion, followed by the evaporation and drying at 102 +/-2 degrees centigrade, and sulfating and ashing of the residue at 800 degrees centigrade, to yield the water-soluble inorganic matter. Treatment of the residue with hydrochloric acid, and titration with standard volumetric disodium ethylenedinitrilotetraacetate solution.
